Masao Fukushima
Masao Fukushima's research contributions range over a wide variety of subjects, including
nonlinear optimization, variational inequality and complementarity problems, parallel
optimization, nonsmooth optimization, global optimization, game theory, and applications in
finance and transportation. In particular, he has carried out pioneering research in the
development of methods for optimization and equilibrium problems. He has published over 200
papers in international journals and has been distinguished as an ISI Highly Cited
Researcher in mathematics. Furthermore, he has played a leading role in the optimization
community of the Asia Pacific region for many years. He is one of the founders of the
Pacific Optimization Research Activity Group and served as the Chairman of the Working
Committee. He is the founder and the Co-Editor of the Pacific Journal of Optimization, and
he is currently on the editorial boards of 15 international journals in optimization and
operations research.
